NEWSLETTER 25.09.2014

Welcome to this week’s newsletter,

ETHOS – All classes have been working on art projects this week, to decorate our reception area. The themes were ‘Friendship’ in Junior Infants, ‘Core Values’ in Senior Infants and ‘Welcome to our Fantastic School’ in First, Second and Third Class.

There is a Board of Management meeting on Tuesday.

ADMINISTRATION – Thank-you to those who have updated files in the school. Please send in any outstanding information forms and also any outstanding money.

SCHOOL NAME – This will be discussed at the Board Meeting, and we will update you with the next steps in due course.

ENROLMENTS – If you have younger children due to start in the coming years, please ensure that you have them enrolled, as we do not have a sibling policy.

COMMUNITY – Congratulations to those involved in Reuben Street Community Garden, which was officially launched on Saturday. It was a great day. This is an inspirational project, and one we are following closely with the plot beside us in mind. We are arranging an initial professional clear-out of the garden and look forward to devising a plan for this in the near future.

Enjoy the weekend,

Dermot.

Dear Parents / Guardians,

Welcome to this weeks newsletter:

ETHOS – We had assembly this week, where we learned about friendship. We also recognised the great efforts made in our new homework initiative. There are some lovely displays of this hard work around the school also. Keep practicing Little Boxes at home for whole school singing – It’s proving to be a very catchy tune with the students and staff. Walk Off The Earth have a nice version also.

PARENTS ASSOCIATION – Thank-you to all who came to the meeting on Tuesday. Congratulations to the parents who were elected onto the PA Committee. They will be making themselves known over the next few weeks I am sure. The PA Committee’s function is to organise the Parents Association, and will remain in place for 12months. Please be reminded that every parent in the school is on the Parents Association, and there will be many projects and subcommittees in the future, where skills and talents from all parents will be called upon.

TEACHING AND LEARNING – Hazel’s class will be starting show and tell next week. Two children will be chosen to bring in items every week. Fiona’s class have been map making this week. They drew a map showing the journey of the gingerbread man. Wilma’s class are enjoying reading lots of books. Their favourite at the moment is John Joe and the Big Hen.

OUT AND ABOUT – Aodán’s class are off to the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Kilmainhan today.

ADMINISTRATION – Please hand in any outstanding money and forms to you class teacher.

FIRE DRILL – We had our first Fire Drill this week, which went well.

COMMUNICATION POLICY – If your child is late or ill, there is no need to call or text us, unless your concerns are serious. A written note upon return will suffice. Please read our communication policy on our website. Thanks.

Enjoy the weekend,

Dermot.
