Dear Parents / Guardians,

ETHOS: Our core value for the last month is sharing. We have lots of dates this month – Ocean Day 8th, Blood Donor Day 14th, Child Labour 12th, Summer Solstice21st,

PARENTS MEETING: The Board of Management are hosting a meeting in the school on June 16th at 20.00hrs. We will be facilitating discussions around enrolment policy at this meeting, we will be updating you on the work that has been happening in our school and also our parents association will be updating you on their work also. We are really looking forward to seeing you there.

CAPOEIRA: The organisers have asked me to remind you that there is no class this Friday.

PARENTS ASSOCIATION REPORT: PA Committee Meeting 19th May: Big Thanks to all for the sponsored walk. The Committee has communicated some parents’ requests for a sibling policy to the Board of Management. See below. We will organize a new lock for the bike shed.  Extracurricular activities for next year are being planned. The committee is also writing a policy on organizing these activities, which is at the draft stage.  We plan to make more use of the Parents Room.  There was also some discussion of events and activities to the end of the year – a barbeque in June and arrangements for summer play dates. TEACHING AND LEARNING: We had Sanford Park Secondary School Students into see us with their guitars and drums and we had a great time as they accompanied us with our singing. We had a barbershop performance, rapping and all sorts. Big thanks to Wilma for organising it, and roping in a family member or two for the performances.

SCHOOL CLOSURE: We are closed on this Monday 1st, and Tuesday 2nd of June. School re-opens on Wednesday. School closes for Summer holidays on the 30th of June.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS: Big happy birthday to our administrator ‘Eavan’ who was 21 on Monday. Enjoy the celebrations over the weekend Eavan. x

Welcome to this week’s newsletter,

ETHOS: We were one of 70 Dublin inner city schools to be awarded the green schools flag this week. Our two students featured in the pictures below, did a fantastic job at representing us at the ceremony on Tuesday in the Helix. Thanks lads! 

ACTIVE SCHOOLS: Thanks to all the parents who organised this with the staff, thanks to all who got involved and also those who contributed some hilarious photographs. Check out the GALLERY for the five days activities.

SPONSORED WALK: Please return any outstanding money collected for the sponsored walk. Also, outstanding money for Active Schools Week / Transport.

HEARING & SIGHT TESTS will be carried out tomorrow for senior infants.

Welcome to this week’s newsletter,

ACTIVE SCHOLS WEEK: We are really excited about Active Schools week. This is the planned schedule for the week:

Monday - football

Tuesday- trip to Phoenix Park for games and playground

Wednesday – Station activities

Thursday - Orienteering in Marlay Park

Friday – Disco and Sponsored Walk

The disco is going to be fun, we have been practicing our moves already. Please come in fancy dress to the disco on Friday. The children will be walking in their fancy dress, so please make sure they are mobile and safe. We would be delighted if you could keep toy weapons at home, and encourage the children to be creative in their costume – let’s challenge stereotypes as we walk the streets !

We will be sending home an Active Schools Diary next week. Please encourage your child to fill it out each day in response to the activities. We will collect the diaries when they are complete and really looking forward to reading them.

Also please send you child in with raincoats/suncream depending on the weather. Reminder to those who have not paid the 12 euro covers the costs of the week so please bring it in as soon as possible. Thank you all so much for supporting this week,

HEARING AND SIGHT TEST: Senior Infants and First Class – please return forms by tomorrow.

PARENTS ASSOCIATION: We are looking for volunteers from both Junior Infants classes to volunteer to help on the sponsored walk on Friday.   • Yarns and Conversations, event taking place in some of the city parks for Bealtaine. One of the parks is St. Patrick’s Park and there shall be knitting and chatting facilitated by artist Niamh Synnott on Wednesday  13th 20th and 27th May from 2.30 pm – 4.30 pm. Weather permitting. There will be canopies and tables and chairs and a café. The idea is to knit and craft for the 3 weeks and then decorate an area of the park with the final product.
