ETHOS This month’s Core Value is FRIENDSHIP. We learn about Friendship before next month’s Anti-bullying Fortnight. This month is also Positive Mental Health Month.
FRIENDS FOR LIFE PROGRAMME: Friends for Life will be starting back this month as part of mental health month. The programme helps students to develop effective strategies to deal with worry, stress and change and teaches the skills required to reduce anxiety and promote resilience. The Junior Infant and Senior Infant classes will be completing the whole programme, and the remainder of the school will be doing a revision programme. There will be one homework activity each week. Please use this as an opportunity to discuss the content with your child. And Enjoy! Thanks so much Hazel for all the work you’ve done to prepare us for this.
ANTIBULLYING – We will be having our anti-bullying fortnight next month. We revised our anti- bullying policy to update new initiatives introduced last year. The additions are in red type – Please read the policy in the next 2 weeks and get back to us with comments for us to consider. ACCOMODATION & BUILDINGS NEEDS – We have been engaging with all our local representatives and continue to do so. So far, we have hosted meetings in our school with the following representatives -
Catherine Ardagh, Ivana Bacik, Micháel Martin (photos here), Michael Mulooly & Aengus O Snodaigh
Thank-you to the representatives for coming to our school, and escalating our needs. In particular thanks to Catherine Ardagh, for arranging yesterdays visit. We are meeting more in the coming week, to highlight our building needs, and our accommodation needs, which leave just 28 places for junior infants this year, and no remaining rooms thereafter. We are emailing you with details of how you can help the campaign.
COMEDY NIGHT – We are running a comedy night fundraiser on February 1st in MVP on Clanbrassil St. We have a great line up, including some parents from the school! Admission is €10 will be available at the door. Tickets tickets will also be on sale Thursday and Friday next week in the schoolyard, in the morning.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR AFTERSCHOOL ACTIVITIES – We need parent volunteers to help run the after school programme. Parents role is to support facilitators rounding up and shepherding children to the various locations, bringing children to go to the toilet, and so on. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you can help for an hour one day a week. Garda vetting is required.
Enjoy the weekend,
