ETHOS:
This month, our Core Value is Friendship. We are having a Positive Mental Health week for the children next week, and shall have visitors and lots of fun activities during the week.

ETHX Secondary School Campaign Update
The ETHX campaign will hold a public meeting in the Griffith Barracks school hall on Thursday 31 January at 7.30pm. Politicians and public representatives will be there.
Will you help us change the minds of politicians and the Minister for Education on the new Harold’s Cross second-level school catchment area? So that children from Canal Way, and not just Dublin 6 and 6W, should be eligible to attend the new school on their locality.
We really need your support. Please sign up to attend on the night by clicking here.

PARENTS ASSOCIATION NEWS Dates for the diary!
7th February 2019 (Thursday) – The Parent’s Committee is hosting a comedy night in MVP bar, Harold’s Cross on 7th February 2019 starting at 7.30. Admission is €10 and tickets will be available in advance and on the door. This was a very popular event last year and this year. Line-up promises some equally brilliant entertainment!
14th February 2019 (Thursday) – A coffee morning and children’s clothes drive/swap will take place just after morning drop-off as a way to recycle our children’s clothing. Further details to follow.
THANKYOU to our Parents Association for fundraising and for all the great work done. Our plan this year is to build up our children’s libraries in the classrooms and we are starting a large piece of work to stock the classrooms with lots of books. The funds raised this year will be spent on this – among other things hopefully. We will keep you updated as the books arrive.
BUILDING UPDATE: We have offered out our places for school year 2018/2019. Our building project to have a 2 story 6 classroom unit onsite, has been submitted to the Dept of Education and we are scheduling this to happen over the Summer Break.
CONGRATULATIONS to Aileen on the birth of her son over the break. All doing well, and we send them our love and best wishes.
WELCOME Jennifer who will be teaching 3rd Class until the end of the year.
WEBSITE We will be finalising the redesign of our website soon and expect to launch it this term. We shall keep you posted.
And finally, I would like to thank everyone in the community for their support while I was out – Staff, parents & children. It was lovely to return to such a warm welcome,  Thank-you.
Enjoy the weekend,
Dermot & Staff.
